Free Agency: Bears Addition

They let go of Rex Grossman. Hallelujah! Rex Grossman plays real football like I play Madden. There's a designed play and a designed receiver I'm going to throw to no matter what. It doesn't matter if that receiver is tripled covered, that's the guy I'm throwing to. And then I get upset when I get picked off four times a game.

People didn't quite understand that when Rex fully played in '06, he was essentially a rookie and when he failed, people booed him. But I felt he wasn't given a fair chance. The kid needed to develop. And the fact remains, he didn't. He did not have the mental capacity to develop and to better himself.

And FUUUUUCK the argument about how Rex took the Bears to the Superbowl and his winning record. Those records are the result of a great defense. Hell, I could have led the '06 Bears to a fucking Super Bowl!

Rex wasn't even a capable back up. If Kyle Orton was healthy for that game against Tennessee, the Bears would have easily won that game.

I think Rex will most assuredly sign with another team. Hell, if Ryan Fitzpatrick can do it, Rex can do it! The problem is that the market is really low on starting QBs. Most teams either have a young kid in place(Atlanta, Baltimore), a proven awesome veteran (Patriots, Colts), or will soon draft a QB (Lions, Jets), that there's not a whole big need for a starting QB. In fact, here's the teams that need a QB now: Minnesota, Jets (but will probably draft a guy this year), and maybe St. Louis. In my mind, every team has a steady starter in place that's better than Grossman. But there's no doubt in my mind he'll be a second stringer somewhere

Players Bears should target:

1) T.J. Who's-your-mama. The Bears are in desperate need of a WR and TJ is THE best receiver on the market. He's not like Moose who was old and had his best year in his free agency year. T.J. is fairly young and proven he can play. Plus, he most certainly will make Orton (or whoever is the Bears QB better)

2) Jeff Garcia. Unlike the Bears organization, I like Orton. I believe his poor performance at the end of the season as due to his injury and once he become healthy he can develop and be a darn good QB. But for now Garcia had proven to be a great, mobile QB. Yes, I realize he's old as balls but he's proven at his old age to still be extremely productive

3) Kurt Warner. See above but take out the word "mobile"

4) Terrell Suggs. An amazing LB. Can replace Hunter Hillenmeyer. Hell, I'll say it, he can maybe replace Urlacher as well

5) Derrick Brooks. The reason he was released because (he's old) he doesn't fit into the Cover-2 scheme. Hey, the Bears have a Cover-2 scheme! And Hunter Hillenmeyer sucks. I'm worried because he's also old as balls so maybe the Bears should give him only like a 2-year deal, but I think he can be effective.

6) Dre Bly/ Sean Springs. Neither of these guys are all that great and I'm not saying these guys should be at the top of the Bears to do list, but still, the Bears need secondary help and these guys are improvements. Fuck Nathan Vasher.

7) Reuben Droughs/ Deuce McAllister. Matt Forte is just amazing, but he's young and he can't take the workload that the Bears gave him and will continue to give him. In fact, Forte will probably be injured next year (similar to how Larry Johnson SUCKED after two years of carrying the ball as much as he did) and the Bears need a quality guy to start a few games and to get about 10 carries a game. Both these guys are serviceable #2 backs that the Bears need (Also, Kevin Jones sucked and should be this guy)

8) Lav Coles/ Devery Henderson/ Lance Moore. Last year Henderson was actually #1 in DVAR, although he might just be another Bernard Berrian. Neither of these two are elite receivers but they're still better than the ones we have now so it's still an improvement

9) Offensive Line help. Now I'm not familiar with specific free agents on the market, but the Bears need THE BEST OFFENSIVE LINEMAN on the market. Our O-line sucks and NEEDS to improve. This will make both Forte and Orton better and just make our team better. Lineman MAKE a team and any organization needs a great O-line ot have a great offense.

10) Darren Sharper. The Bears have needed safety help for the past four needs now and it's a position they keep drafting (although in like the 5th round and lower) and keep getting nothing (WOW, a 6th rounder isn't a good starter, whodothunk!) Sharper is experienced and good and WILL help Da Bears

11) Atari Bigby. Is he good? I've heard his name because he's a Packer but I do not watch the Packers. Anyway, if he's good, then he should be got. He's a young, talented safety and something the Bears desperately need.

  1. About time we move on from the Grossman era. That experiment failed miserably.
