We are four humble men who love sports, but hate sports commentary. Peter Gammons is our hero and John Madden is our enemy. If you were to ask us our purpose, our answer would be simple: "We are forever locked in Mortal Kombat for the souls of sports fans everywhere. Statistics are our science and 'the immeasurable character of men' is the obsolete religion of blind faith. Our job is to prove that God doesn't exist and that athletes are merely cold, metal machines with no hearts or souls."

Johan Santana Has A Very Good Memory
I recently saw a video which shows the great memory Johan Santana has. He has an individual handshake for every player on the Mets. I wonder how he came up with everyone and how he remembers each on. The other players only have to remember one, but he has to remember 24! I suggest to check out the video at: http://deadspin.com/5200783/johan-santana-has-a-very-good-memory
I didn't watch this video but your post reminded me of something smart Joe Morgan said (surprisingly). He was talking about how he would memorize every single pitch sequence a pitcher would throw to him. This allowed Morgan to be the great player that he was because it was easier to know what pitchers would throw.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking if Santana really does have a good memory maybe he utilizes it like Morgan did.
