First of all, how can Peyton Manning be the MVP yet not be the best offensive player?
Anyway, the amazing Chris Johnson had one of the best seasons had a RB ever. He's only one of six backs to gain over 2,000 yards in a season and gained the most yards ever from scrimmage by any player in a single season. So despite the fact that he got screwed out of MVP votes , at least the AP used lube when doing so by giving him in the offensive player of the year. Too vulgar of a metaphor?

Chris Johnson Gets F%*@ed In The A$$
The Tennessee Titan ran for over 2,000 yards in a single season and doesn't even garnish any MVP votes. As much as I would have loved for Johnson to get the MVP and as much as he deserved it, I wouldn't mind it as much if both him and Manning both got a lot of votes- like what the NL ROY votes looked like with Tulo and Ryan Braun. Yes Manning had a great year and I have no problem with the MVP going to him. But for Johnson to not gain A SINGLE VOTE. Really!? What the hell AP, that's some bull right there. If having one of the greatest rushing seasons for ANY running back can't even get you ONE vote, then I guess being Brett Favre is the only other criteria to get votes.
I understand that the Titans missed the playoffs and it was probably more Vince Young than Johnson's doing that the Titans won as many games as they did- but how is the Titans win loss record anywhere close to being Johnson's fault. The Titans did not lose games because of Chris Johnson but he's being punished like he did.
Chris Johnson Chasing History
Chris Johnson is having a great season rushing for 1,872 yards with 12 touchdowns. A few weeks ago there was talk about him breaking the single season rushing record of 2,105 yards. There is one game left for Chris Johnson and the Titians this season and he needs 128 yards to reach 2,000 and 233 yards for the single season rushing record of 2,105 yards. So it looks grim for him to break the record, but not out of the question. The Tennessee Titans play the Seattle Seahawks next week who rank 14th in the NFL in stopping the run. Chris Johnson has rushed for 228 yards in a game this season doing it against the Jacksonville Jaguars in week 8 on 24 carries. Johnson has rushed over 100 yards in 11 games this season and rushed for or over 128 yards 8 times this season. Thus, he could reach the 2,000 yards plateau or the 2,105 single season rushing record. We will have to wait and see.
Colin Cowherd Says Something Dumb
I was up late recently so I popped on ESPN and Sportsnation was on. They were doing a bit where athletes would "call" into the show about their career and Colin and the hot chick would respond. Chris Johnson "called" into the show asking
Very true. Chris Johnson is just fucking amazing and he's having one of the best seasons for a RB. But it was Cowherd's response that just struck me as so utterly dumb that I felt compelled to say something about it. He said:

1) People are talking about Chris Johnson. As evidenced by the multiple posts on this site and the poll on the side, people are fully aware of the awesomeness that is Chris Johnson. Anyone who even sort of checks a fantasy football team or somewhat follows football knows of the awesomeness that is Chris Johnson and talk about him whenever we can. There is only so much you can say about how great of a player he is, but he still gets talked about. The only one NOT talking about Johnson is the dumb fucks over at ESPN.
2) ESPN is the sole proprietor of sports propaganda. So first of all, it seems a little odd that an entity who's job it is to mention all things sports is asking itself why it is not talking about something it should, doesn't it? Secondly, the real reason why "nobody" is talking about Chris Johnson, is because ESPN isn't talking about ESPN. The producers of Sportscenter and NFL Live and such are just not doing their jobs by not putting Chris Johnson on the list of things the analysts should talk about. ESPN is just dumb by not constantly jerking off to a player that deserves all the jerking he can get!
3) Who says this is a "pass first league"? Do all 32 teams always "pass first"? What does it even mean to "pass first"? Does that mean that the first play of the game for all 32 teams will be a passing play? When you really think about, the term "pass first" is a pretty dumb one. But I know what Cowherd is referring to and he's still wrong. Sure, there are SOME teams that predominantly pass more than they run like the Saints, Colts, Patriots, and Eagles. But this isn't a league wide thing. Teams like the Rams, Dolphins, Titans, and when they can- the Bears are more run first teams. And then there's a lot like the Vikings who have a good combination of both the run and pass. Teams choose to pass or run first is based solely off of the necessity of the team's talent- not because of the "nature of the league"
4) Even if the NFL was a pass first league, that's absolutely no reason not to talk about one of the greatest rushing seasons of all time. The same way ESPN jerked off to Sean Alexander and LT in their TD breaking years in this "pass first league" is the same reason they should be talking about Johnson.
5) You can not host your own show on ESPN and spew your dumb opinions as facts or say things without support. Like the statement "People care more about WRs than RBs" and "The wide out is the new running back" What are you basing this off of!?

Chris Johnson Greatest Season Ever?
There are many ways to judge the greatness of a running backs season. You can look at TDs, yards, carries, averages, or most importantly the offensive lines in front of the back. I like the traditional stats to judge running backs, total yards from scrimmage. Yards are yards, regardless how they are attained, and that is what I like to look at.
The greatest single season total yards from scrimmage seasons belong to Marshall Faulk(2429) in 1999, Tiki Barber(2390) in 2005, and LaDainian Tomlinson(2370) in 2003. Other great seasons in recent memory belong to Jamal Lewis, Larry Johnson, Priest Holmes, and Shawn Alexander.
No matter what anyone says, Chris Johnson is the MVP this season. No one has had more impact on his teams performance this season than Johnson. With 3 games left in the season, he's already eclipsed the 2000 yards from scrimmage mark. At 2017 yards, he is on pace to finish with 2482 yards setting the all time record. You add 13 touchdowns and 3 TD runs above 85 yards and you have your league MVP. As I mentioned earlier, no running back in the SB era has more than two 85 yard runs in their career, let alone a single season.

On NFL Live Today, one analyst (who are normally good) said that the MVP is going to go to a quarterback this year. Why? Why has that assumption already been made. The analysts (I believe it was Merrill Hodge but I forget exactly) said it was either going to go to Brees, Manning, or Favre? What? I thought football was past the idea that wins automatically equate to MVP votes? MVP should go to the best player. And how do you determine the best player, by using statistics! Baseball has already gotten past this by voting Pujols as the MVP last year, even though he couldn't pitch well enough to make it to the playoffs and by voting in Zack Grieke who was on the second worst team in baseball and "only" had 15 wins. Football I thought was already there. Yes, the three best teams are the Saints, Colts, and Favre, and yes, all of them are having a fantastic year, and yes, all are huge contributors to why their team is doing well, but that doesn't mean they AUTOMATICALLY get to be MVP. The reason is doesn't make them an automatic, is because of Chris Johnson.
Even though the Tennessee Titans have a losing record (5-6), they still have a shot at the playoffs. If they make it in, Johnson will get more votes because his team made the playoffs. But even if the Titans do make the playoffs, football writers will probably credit Vince Young more than Johnson. And if they don't (and I personally think the Titans have dug themselves into too deep of a hole playing the crappy Kerry Collins to start the season), Johnson's MVP chances will also be hurt. But why haven't more people talked about him this year?
I haven't fully looked into who I think should be the MVP this year, and there still is four more games to go, but Johnson should be near or at the top of everybody's list. Johnson said today that he wants to be MVP this year, and it's hard to find an argument right now why he shouldn't be the NFL MVP. I was watching the MNF game between Tennessee and Houston and Johnson is on pace to have the most rushing yards ever by a RB in a single season. While this stat will be helped by the longer season Johnson plays in versus the greats like Peyton, Brown, and the record holder Dickerson in the past, it's still quite an accomplishment if and when he accomplished this feat. Even if Johnson doesn't break the record, he's still amazing.
The biggest factor I look for in a RB is the run blocking of the offensive line because that is the single biggest causal factor to how good a RB is- and to Johnson's benefit, his O-line is awful. Tennessee ranks 25th out of 32 teams. So Johnson is able to produce, and come up big, despite this huge detriment. Johnson ranks first in rushing yards and first in YPC. He gets on average 6.4 YPC carry. Considering you only need 10 yards to get a first down, the Titans can just rush Johnson and will barely see third downs is seems like! TBO told me Johnson already had three TD run over 85+ yards and in t-4th in TDs. Obviously Johnson is very efficient ranking 2nd in DVOA and DYAR. Johnson also is able to catch the ball and doesn't fumble (unlike SOME people. Yes, I'm looking at you All Day).
Johnson is very good and I hope football writers and voters do take a serious look at Johnson instead if automatically coming to the conclusion that a QB should win it. Again, I'm not saying Johnson SHOULD win it, but he absolutely needs to be in the conversation more.
