Rose best rookie in the eastern conference

Derek Rose was named Eastern Conference T-Mobile Rookie of the Month for December. An honor he also won for November. Derek Rose averaged 16.3 ppg (second among rookies) and 6.2 apg (first among rookies) for the month of December. He has led the Chicago Bulls in assist for 12 of their 15 games in December and scored in double digits for 14 of the 15 games. Rose ranks 15 among all players in assists in the NBA and 8th in the eastern conference. Rose is one of five rookies on the Bulls to have a 20 point and 13 assist game. He is averaging 17.3 ppg and 6.1 apg for the season.

At the beginning of the season a lot was made of Greg Oden or Eric Beasley being the best rookie. Two months into the season those players have disappeared and Rose has shinned. Look for Rose to continue his dominance among all the rookies while he continues to be the Bulls best player and one of the few bright spots on the season.

actually, oj mayo is a better player so far this year. you can make a case for rose, but majo has better numbers. i bet rose wins rookie of the year, not cause he deserves it, but the NBA likes stars and mayo unfortunately plays for memphis

Oj Mayo is a slightly better offensive player. He leads rose by almost 3 ppg, but rose has a better fg%. Mayo has a better three point percentage and is a better free throw shooter. The most disappointing part to Rose's game for me has been his poor free throw shooting. Rose has doubles the assist ppg than Mayo and less turnovers so their close when you compare the overall game.
