Shawn Springs thinks Hurricane Katrina is hilarious *UPDATE*

Shawn Springs, the veteran cornerback for the New England Patriots, was a guest on First Take today on ESPN2. He was given some softball questions about the Super Bowl and was expected to give some softball answers. I mean it's not like they know how to do anything else on ESPN. Well Shawn obviously had other things in mind. When asked which team he would rather not face in the Super Bowl, he responded "Well if it was me, I would hope a hurricane comes through". Nice choice of natural disasters Shawn Springs. I think you are looking for the word tornado. Tornado. It would have been more politically correct if you wanted Manning and Brees to simply get struck by lightning or get foot poisoning. Do you also wish there would be more unemployment in Detroit and a larger financial crisis on wall street?

I may have video evidence for you loyal readers later tonight, but no promises

*UPDATE* As promised I got you the video. I never disappoint, unless you're of the female gender, in which case it's 50-50

1) Wow, talk about no tack.
2) You know ESPN is going to make Youtube take that video down...

I know it sounded bad, however if you were paying attention he used hurricane because he meant he would want it so windy that neither quarterback would be able to throw the ball/Hurricane Katrina had nothing to do with it. If New Orleans was not one of the teams playing no one would have thought anything of it

@David "MVP" Eckstein - Although I do agree with you, you either misspelled "tact" or you don't know the definition of "tack".

1) Windy = Tornado
Windy and Wet = Hurricane

2) It would not have been funny; I would not have posted the video if New Orleans was not playing. I believe you are the only person who does not find this obvious

3) If he specifically made fun of hurricane katrina, that would have been mean, not funny, and would not have ended up on this blog

4) Thats like saying if it wasnt michael jackson molesting those kids, no one would have thought anything of it. Context is very important

What is "foot poisoning"..

A wind with a speed greater than 64knots (74 miles per hour; 119 kilometers per hour per hour), according to the Beaufort scale.

Not alwasy including rain. Poor choice of words for the team that's involved, but lighten up people. Anybody who has been to Miami knows it get Hurricanes a lot. Like Dana did in the video, laugh. He's not pointing out the misfortunes of people because of one, he's saying what could stop both peyton and drew.

I want to nit pick and every single word people say and make it sound like a big deal!

@David "MVP" Eckstein

Dumb nickname

David Eckstein as defined at the glossary at firejoemorgan.com:

David Eckstein
David Eckstein is 4'10" and appears to suffer from borderline albinism. Despite this, he is a mediocre MLB shortstop. After he throws the ball to first base, it looks like he needs to lie down from exhaustion. He also runs hard to first base, as most baseball players do.

Baseball analysts have interpreted this data to be somehow indicative of something more powerful than mere "tangible" baseball skills, perhaps residing somewhere deep in the (non-human?) DNA of David Eckstein.

In fact, a new wave of baseball genetic experts believes that there may be a mutant patch of genetic code on chromosome 11 in some major league ballplayers. In most cases, this causes True Yankeeism. Eckstein, they claim, was born with a mutation of a mutation; the resulting phenotype features not only acute and heightened True Yankeeism, but stunted growth and fair skin and hair.

Wow... you gotta be kidding me.

Slow news day or something? Way to take some innocent statement and make an atrocity out of it.

Dear "anonymous"

That is why I have the name David MVP Eckstein and why MVP is in quotes. It's an irony thing, dude.

It's amazing to me the spectrum of responses I have seen today. Some people just dont understand humor. No, the video is not hilarious or revolutionary, but the funny subtext behind what Springs chose to say cannot be denied.

^^ this guy just doesn't understand humor

So if Shawn Springs were to describe the New York Giants season after it's 5-0 start as an "epic collapse", would he also think 9/11 was hilarious???

The 'Bright' One said...

hilarious!!!(in the most sarcastic way possible)

For you to digress from Springs' comment towards Katrina should deem you TRO: The 'Retarded' One. And the post about the Giants owned you, TRO (unless you failed to recognize the subtext of his humor). Haha. And the fact that you TiVo 1st take calls for a name change to TRO. And to solidify TRO's dumbass nature, you videotaped a TiVo-ed episode of 1st take. Hahahahahahaha!!!!

I guess my post was picked up by sports illustrated, withleather, busted coverage, the sportingnews, awful announcing, and sports by brooks because it was stupid, not funny, and insensitive.

I feel sorry for the 10 of you, out of 30,000 who saw the video, feel offended by the video and/or dont understand the humor behind it.

Tivo has this great feature where you can record what you were watching without having to record it originally. Amazing

Like i said before, dont hate cause you cant duplicate
