We all know by now that Adam Dunn is a butcher in left field. Considering this is the easiest position on the field, the prospects of Dunn being less of a defensive liability at a different position is minuscule. His fielding value the past 4 years according to fangraphs is -18.9, -13.9, -20, and -28 last years. This is monumentally bad. It may be all time bad for all i know. Anyway, Davey Johnson decided to put adam dunn at first base for the USA v Venezuela game tonight due to the injury of kevin youkili. No surprisingly, dunn committed a throwing error at first base that led to 4 unearned runs. Team USA lost 10-6. Thankfully, the US has secured a spot in the semifinals, so i suggest Dunn goes back to left field and hope no balls come his way

Um, during this game, I think we should also look at the fact that Adam Dunn walked twice, Jeremy Guthrie sucks and definitely is not good to get out of a jam, LaTroy Hawkins SUCKS (seriously, how the FUCK did he make it on the team!?) and let in three runs.
1) Team USA is cursed with injury. Maybe we should just build a TEAM USA with guys we wouldn't mind seeing injured because they are moot to their team (Erstad, Eckstein, etc)
2) At least Adam Dunn isn't a DH playing 2B (uggla cough cough)
3) No one said Dunn had Youk or Tex's glove. He will outslug (and out eat) Youk any day, however
I am baffled by Jeremy Guthrie. I know that his ERA has been severely deflated the last two years by one of the best defensive infields in baseball, but his 3.66 ERA/4.44 FIP split (366 IP) pisses me off. He's not good and gets undeserved recognition. It's the fucking O's defense that deserves some cred.
it's like Edwin Jackson getting traded for Matt Joyce because Longoria-Iwamura-Bartlett-Hinske-Pena combined to be worth +28 defense fielding runs last year.
