Marquis Turns His Career around

The Cubs signed Jason Marquis to a three year deal before the 2007 season. His first two years in Chicago was very disappointing and he never had much support from the media or fans. He always seemed to underperform for his contract, but was one of the best fifth starters in baseball, and that was what he was supposed to be. So before this season started Jim Hendry traded him to Colorado for pretty much nothing. We got Luis Vizcaino back in return whom we ended up cutting. Thus, it was pretty much a salary dump. Now this season, the joke is on the Cubs. Jason Marquis is pitching great this season leading the National League in wins with 11. Jason Marquis has pitched in 17 games so far with a 3.61 ERA, 2 complete games, 1 shutout, in 117.1 innings this season (5th best in NL). It looks like the Cubs traded him too early for too little. We could have used him or traded him for a lot more.

Jason Marquis blows, he's just lucky to have a good offense that won him ten games. And it's not like the Rockies NEEDED to send Marquis as their lone representative, they have fucking Brad Hawpe, who is going to the game!
-Marquis is not even top 25 in the NL in strike outs
-Marquis is 27st in ERA in the NL
-Marquis is 27th in FIP in the NL
-Marquis is fifth to last in the NL in K/9
-Marquis is 8th to last in the NL in K/BB
-Marquis is 29th in NL in WHIP
Not only is Marquis bad he's not even the best pitcher on his team. You can make the argument than Aaron Cook, Ubalso Jimenez, and maybe even Jorge De La Rosa is better than Marquis.
Remember in 2006 when Marquis ended up winning 15 games and still had a losing record? And remember the two years where Marquis was on the Cubs? Yeah, he's still bad but lucky with a good defense.
The way he is pitching now is better than when he was a Cub and we would have received alot more if we traded him now. We got nothing in that trade.
