Grossman's Dads Chimes in on the Bears

Rex Grossman's dad, Dan Grossman talked about the Chicago Bears. He makes some good points that here Jay Cutler is struggling now because of the culture of the team and the way he is used. It was a good article.

So many things wrong with this article

1) Can you really expect an unbiased opinion of Chicago QBs from Rex Grossman's dad?
2) "To me, there’s an inherent organizational problem with the quarterback position"

The problem has been the Bears have had shitty talent. The only "organizational" problem the Bears have had is that there's no one inside this organization to effectively judge offensive talent

3) "Grossman believes the root of the problem is the Bears’ traditional reliance on the running game"

a. If you have a great D and a damn fine running game, you can win the Superbowl (see Ravens, Buccaneers) and the Bears UNDER Rex Grossman went to the Superbowl with formula. What's wrong with wanting to run the ball?
b. The Bears are passing like crazy this year. Did this dude even see the Arizona game/ box score!?
c. Maybe if Rex Grossman didn't suck so bad, the Bears would stop "relying" on the run game

4) The only point I agree with him on this this, and I only have agree:
"The successful teams have brought in a quarterback, have surrounded him with excellent linemen, receivers and running backs. Once that quarterback becomes quite confident and comfortable with the system — depending on their skill level — they can flourish."

Yes having a great offensive around you will help essentially every QB. But even if Rex Grossman had a great O-line and receivers around him (he had a top notch running game when he was in town), I'm not convinced that Grossman would do THAT much better because the guy made poor decision and bad throws. Having great players around him doesn't make up for this deficiency

And with Kruetz, Garza, and Brown (esp in '06), Grossman had a damn fine line AND a damn fine running game. He just sucks. Plus, a good QB LIKE a Jay Cutler makes his receivers better. Notice how Hester is doing very very good this year?
