The Set Up Of The WBC
The WBC is initially broken up into brackets pools (A,B,C,D) of four teams; two teams emerge from each pool in round one following a best-of-three series. Round two breaks the remaining teams into two pools, one consisting of the top two teams from Pools A & B and one of the top two teams from Pools C & D. Round two is also a best-of-three series. For round three, the top team in each pool plays the second best team from the other pool in a single-elimination game. The winners of each round three game will advance to the final round, where they will play a single-elimination game in Los Angeles.

Rules
A pitcher cannot pitch until
- a minimum of four days have passed since he last pitched, if he threw 50 or more pitches when he last pitched.
- a minimum of one day has passed since he last pitched, if he threw 30 or more pitches when he last pitched.
- a minimum of one day has passed since any second consecutive day on which the pitcher pitched.
A pitcher cannot pitch more than
- 65 pitches per game in Round One of the tournament.
- 80 pitches per game in Round Two of the tournament.
- 95 pitches per game in the Semifinals and Final of the tournament.
- A pitcher can still finish a batter's plate appearance even if the limit is reached, but must come out after completing the plate appearance.
A game will be a called game if the leading team is ahead by
- 10 or more runs when the opposing team has batted in at least seven innings.
- 15 or more runs when the opposing team has batted in at least five innings.
The DH rule applies for all the games.

this darvish kid is apparently like dice-k except better, and younger, and less walky. but he wants to get 200 wins in japan before coming to the US. screw that

So basically this Darvish kid is just overall better than Dice-K?
America doesn't care about the WBC. Why should they? Players don't wanna risk getting injured and there's little pride in winning at all. Seriously, do YOU care if America wins at all?
You know, on paper, this America team doesn't seem THAT bad. But the problem is that you really don't know how the non-MLB players will play. No one knew who Dick-K was before 2006. So you can write down all the players that we know on paper but you really can't accurately say who will win because it's the players we haven't heard of that will most likely determine the outcome.
Also, these pitching rules are gay
No one said the WBC mattered (it's not World Cup), but it's still a cool venue. Personally, I like seeing "super teams" like the Super Friends or what Team USA could be if Josh Hamilton wasn't so fucking afraid of relapsing into drugs.
Regardless, it's a great place to see world baseball players play. Where else are you gonna see Yu Darvish? There is no ESPN Japan (side note: would it be called ESPN 日本国??)
I think it would be cool if people, especially Americans, cared. But personally, and as much as I love baseball, do not.
Another reason it sucks because when all the rosters are finalized, how many players are you actually going to know? It's hard to gripe and analyze something when you're unfamiliar with it.
