Dick Wood

I always find it strange when I realize one of my favorite baseball players first name, isnt really his first name. How shocked were you when you realized Chipper Jones was actually Larry Jones. Or Ken Griffey Jr was actually George Griffey Jr. Just doesnt have the same zing to it. Well today i came across Angels prospect brandon wood. Most known for hitting 43 homers in the minors as a 20 year old short-stop. He will probably never be a regular major leaguer, given his K rate, and inability to actually play shortstop, or any position for that matter. Apparently his given first name is actually Richard Wood. I can see why he would change it. A man can only take so many Dick Wood jokes before he snaps and goes on an LSD binge
