How does Oliver Perez have a freakin job!? I have never met a single person who thought Perez was a good pitcher, a serviceable pitcher, a spot starter. No, he's worse than that. As i have uttered previously, this is news to absolutely no one, except Omar Minaya. After one amazing year, cy young worthy year with the pirates back in 2004, he has been garbage. Coming off a season with a 4.7 FIP, 1.4 WHIP, Scot Boras worked his magic and convinced Omar Minaya could not sleep at night without Oliver Perez in the Mets rotation. This resulted in the Mets shelling out 36MM over 3 years in a highly depressed economy.

I wonder who the Mets were bidding against exactly. I'm sure there was no one who would pay that money, or even half that money, to a pitcher who's sole skill is being a lefty who throws hard.
